The Adventure Begins…………..

Up early  6 am (early for us as we are unemployed bums!) to start loading the car and trailer.  Managed to pack everything apart from the kitchen sink; actual we have that too. The last item sold on Ebay was picked up and the estate agent was so happy she had already arranged an open house while we were still there.  It was very strange having people viewing our house while we were still packing the trailer and preparing to leave.  We made our last trip to Point Cook town centre and had a send off from Reni and we were ready to leave.

(All packed and ready to go.)

All in all we had made good time and managed to leave an hour before planed (around midday). Our First stop as most of you would know is the Grampians.  All was going swimmingly until we realised that our new GPS offers alternative routes to the same destination.  We had picked the shortest route, which we soon discovered this was not the fastest or easiest route as the tarmac soon dissolved into a dirt/gravel track and we were taken through Werribee Gorge State Park.  This was a little of the beaten track. James could have sworn he saw a little old lady in a rocking chair wielding a shotgun, giving us the evil eye.  Eventually the tarmac returned and the Satnav got us to the motorway and safely to our campsite.

(Where the hell are we????)

The campsite is by Lake Fyans and was very busy when we arrived. We soon got talking to our neighbours (Craig & Christine) as we managed to get the trailer jockey wheel stuck in the sand and they kindly offered to help us out.  It took us about twenty minutes to get all set up, which for us isn’t bad!!!, considering the pressure  of having our new neighbours  taking up ringside seats, looking on in amusement  with cans of beer in their hands as we fumbled to erect the tent and unpack.

James soon realised that we haven’t picked up any beer Sad smile which was a major concern for him as he was gasping for a cold one.   Seeing Craig crack open another of his cold VB’s from their esky .  It was decided we should jump back in the car and try and find a bottle shop, nearest being 20 mins away in Stawell.

While in Stawell, we decided to pop into the local, (start as we mean to go on) and have an early dinner.  To our surprise they didn’t start serving food for another hour so we had to prop up the bar for a while.  By time the bistro opened James was starving and ordered the mother of all burgers (see below).  This thing had 3 burgers, 3 slices of cheese, bacon, beetroot, tomato, onions, avocado and it came with wedges and sour cream.  That pretty much finished him off for the night.

When we got back to the campsite we decide to watch the sunset over the lake.  Unfortunately the clouds rolled in just before the sun was going down, so although it was very pretty, we don’t think the photo’s show it as well as they could.
