Yambuk–aroo!!

Ok, we left the scenic mountain views of the Grampians on Thursday morning to venture down to Yambuk, which is a town a few KM’s from Port Fairy. The campsite is few km’s off the main road down a narrow roadway with farmland on each side. At first I thought our GPS was playing silly games with us again.  But, as we reach the top of a crest in the road the campsite came into view, phew !!!. In comparison to previous sites we’ve been to it’s tiny only about 20 powered sites. However the staff are very friendly and the views are magnificent. From our tent we can see the Yambuk Lake (inlet to the sea) and the sand dunes leading onto the beach, which is pretty much deserted only visited by the handful of people on the site or locals going fishing in the lake. The negative comment I have about this place is the wind. Our little trailer tent was getting battered by strong winds, until we had people turned up in a caravan and parked next door which gave us some protection from the gusts. I should of guess it was going to be windy when I saw these (see below) on the hills to the right of us

Today (Friday) we travelled into Warrnambool, although we had been there before our main reason for visiting again was not to see the historical buildings, the Flagstaff Hill Maritime  Village or the beaches. No, someone had recommended that a particular restaurant “Burger Joint” do the best burgers in town called “Kermonds” (no word of a lie, only reason why we went there). My evaluation of the chilli & salami burger I ate, AMAZING !!!!!! Especially washed down with a Mars flavour thick shake, Kat enjoyed her Chilli burger and Brazilian Banana too “possibly the best burger she has ever had”. Thanks Peter for the tip.

After our over indulgent with burgers and milkshakes we headed back to our tent to relax and walk along the beach to work up an appetite for dinner and watch the sunset.
